GOODBYEEE.

This is my farewell to hypermiling. I’m simply not driving enough to achieve low consumption. I filled up on the 1st of November and, as of last Saturday had covered only 150 miles. The mpg gauge was showing 54.5 and the engine had been trying to complete a D.P.F. cleanse for over a week.On Sunday I...

Re: MPG Stats 28

Managed to go over a month without buying fuel but finally caved in today with 54 miles range reading. 717 miles since last fill. Actual mpg 61.7 against 62.5 computed by car.

No complaints, everything running well.

Re: Spotted!

Noticed this today. Behind a farm on an unnamed road. It’s obviously been there for years and it would take some serious jungle warfare to get it out. No idea what it is and no way I could get close to it. Any ideas out there?

What goes around...

Heavy rain overnight and lots of water lying on the roads when I was out for a walk this morning. So a young ned in a black Audi with blacked out windows decided to drive through a puddle and soak some walkers, me included. What he hadn’t noticed was that the puddle was caused by a displaced drain c...

Re: MPG Stats 28

Over the past few months my/our driving circumstances have changed so I'm not sure what will happen.

Re: MPG Stats 28

My Sportage is still chugging happily along at over 60 mpg. Filled up today. 54.1 litres of from Asda at 1.267 and a total of £68. Actual mpg from the last fill was 61.6 with the car computer showing 63.1. 733 recorded miles and I could have run on to 750 but I had a long cross country run today. Wh...

Re: MPG Stats 28

Is it worth it. Let’s be cynical. An offer email from Morrisons today for 5 pence off per litre valid until 15th September. I might, just might need to fill up before then with, typically 50 litres so a saving of £2.50. Since we have a Morrisons card this might rise to £3.00 although 50p would be for...

Re: MPG Stats 28

Another month, another fill up. 50.82 litres and a calculated mpg of 63.5. Indicated was 65.2. Since there was 68 miles range left I could have run until the two agreed.

I might go for another 750 tank but that is probably the most the car (and me) is capable of.

Re: MPG Stats 28

That’s it! 750 tank done and dusted. Filled up with 52.84 litres at Sainsburys this morning with the low fuel light flashing and 45 miles on the range gauge. 761 miles in just over a month. MPG of 65.47 while the car computer suggested 64.4. Not a significant difference. Could it be bettered? Possib...
