This is my farewell to hypermiling. I’m simply not driving enough to achieve low consumption. I filled up on the 1st of November and, as of last Saturday had covered only 150 miles. The mpg gauge was showing 54.5 and the engine had been trying to complete a D.P.F. cleanse for over a week.On Sunday I handed the car to the Senior Grandwean and asked her to use it and give it a decent run to get the engine back into condition. The D.P.F. cleaning was completed in one run to her work.
I’ll still keep the Sportage since it is a very comfortable, reliable and easy car to drive but since my future use of it is mainly for short distance shopping runs but as to hypermiling....
Goodbye, Au Revoir and Sayonara from an incipient octogenarian.
GOODBYEEE.
