Breakdown Cover?

Postby Karl on Thu Jul 08, 2010 12:34 pm

My breakdown cover is due at the end of the month and the RAC have lost in the bidding war to the AA with £89 for joint roadside recovery.

What does everybody else use / pay?

I read on MSE that there are some that cover you but you have to pay from your own pocket and claim the money back from them - not sure I want that.

I have used both RAC and AA in the past but we recently were given complimentary roadside recovery for both of our cars (Hondas) from the dealer we go to for servicing. They are an excellent dealer - servicing costs are reasonable and they give us a free MOT each too :D
The last time I paid for breakdown cover I got it through a cashback site and ended up paying £7 for the year :!:

We use the RAC, which we can pay for using Tesco clubcard vouchers.

About £60 of vouchers gets home start UK recovery for both of us, not bad really.

Lol,
A weekend wine binge! How much wine do you get through? I would have put you down as a home brewer but I guess that doesn't work for wine in this country...

I have tired my hand at brewing beer using the brewcube but it always ended in disaster - even following it by the letter.

We're not hardcore drinkers but we might go through a couple of bottles over the weekend whie watching a movie or too.

Wine is my next project - if that fails I'll give up and stick to the Tesco wine thats on offer.

Don't know if you have considered making mead? I would think it was easier in this country than wine, although it is a bit of an acquired taste. I nearly summed up the courage to brew my own mead a few years back, haven't got the time now.

Hi all - back from my hols ans still on the same tank :D
Talking of wine - I used to make quite a bit and have recently started making it again the last couple of years. I make Apple wine (using free apples from a neighbours tree) and stawberry wine (using home grown strwberries) so for the sake of a few bags of sugar and a few other bits and bobs, I get about 4 litres of wine. I still have one demi john with apple wine from last September brewing nicely in the conservatory

Heres a little update.

We fancied a trip over to Twycross Zoo (waste of fecking time if you ask me) so I knew I had to get something sorted this morning. It must have been fate because I had an email from Top Cash Back saying that If I spend £X with the AA I would get £40 cash back. That works out for joint Roadside / Relay personal cover for the year at £59.99 down from £89.99.

A result if you ask me!

If any of you guys are not signed up then PM me your email address and I will send you an invite thing, that way I get £2.50 if you join and spend (I think)
