Just made it to detour #2 last night but needed 2 up and down the junction tricks to avoid some standing traffic, 9.5°C, 15mph cross/tailwind SSW:
46.5 (indicated 49.0) / 20.1

As soon as I got home, took youngest to Youth Club, slightly downhill - did loads of low speed engine off coasts, perfect run :P , no stops, no people behind me wanting to go faster than 10 - 20mph, first time over 100mpg on the on-board computer over 32 tanks and 29 months of ownership:
99.2 (indicated 104.5) / 1.8

52.9 (indicated 55.8) / 1.7 - return making it a calculated 69.6mpg for the 3.5 mile round trip

Picked her up later in the Jazz but only managed 54mpg for the round trip.

This morning, big queue to traffic light section in right hand lane so carried on down the left and a nice space opened up so I took it, raining, 11.5°C, wind is building - 19mph cross/headwind SSW:
54.4 (indicated 57.3) / 22.5

Tank down 0.3 at 52.4 (indicated 55.2) / 303.6 / Range 300 . Fuel gauge F___«|««««E . UG down 0.3 at 54.6 / DTE 311

Lost 3rd pip @ 270 miles

(Retired) '06 Honda FR-V 2.2 i-CTDi - Best/longest tank: 67.92mpg (+51.6%) / 815.5 miles.

Detour #2 again Thursday night, needed 2 up and down the junction tricks again - I'll be glad when December is over! 6°C, 11mph tailwind W:
46.7 (indicated 49.3) / 20.3

Friday morning, bad start - hampered by a car waiting in a stupid place on car sharer's dead-end street meaning I couldn't do my usual reverse coast to his house followed by 2 bin lorries blocking the way on the next 2 streets, 1.5°C - lots of snow on cars, blustery 11mph cross/headwind WNW:
49.6 (indicated 52.3) / 22.6 - First calculated sub 50mpg going to work since last December.

Tank down 0.6 at 51.8 (indicated 54.6) / 346.5 / Range 235. Fuel gauge F____|««««E . UG down 0.7 at 53.9 / DTE 260

Tank up 0.3 at 52.1 (indicated 54.9) / 368.8 / Range 220 . Fuel gauge F____|««««E . UG up 0.2 at 54.1 / DTE 240

Really glad it's car sharer's turn for the commute this week - it was -2°C this morning and yesterday's snow was frozen solid. The lowest recorded temperature in England on Sunday was -11.6°C. They are dubbing today Black Ice Monday and forecasting temperatures could drop as low as -15°C :o

I've actually done quite a bit of driving this month. Had an early fill up at the end of November to take advantage of a 10 p discount at Morrisons. Almost ran through a tankful by Christmas eve when another early fill up was made so that the grandweans could have a taxi service during the holidays. Overall mpg, the one I'm really interested in is still a touch over 58.

CEO and No.1 female grandwean are pressurising me to replace the Sportage. It will be three years old come April and the CEO simply refuses to sit he erse in a car older than that. The appointed successor has her eyes on the car which she reckons will come very cheap - she may be a disappointed wee lassie if I get my way.

If I do change I might be tempted by a hybrid. Auris and Ionic look interesting.
Kia Ceed 1.6 crdi isg Retired undefeated on 25,720 miles and 62.91 mpg overall

Now driving my second Sportage.

Warning. May contain a nut.

Hi TE, hope you had a good Christmas.
I looked at the Auris Hybrid Estate, just the boot space let it down a touch - bit too shallow. Definitely thinking about a hybrid or PHEV (at the right price!) next time but I’m really not keen on a CVT gearbox - I’ve driven the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV which was great apart from the gearbox if you wanted to accelerate say down a slip road onto a motorway - loads of revs and not a lot of progress - I much prefer my 7 speed dual-clutch auto box to a CVT.
I agree, the Ionic looks interesting - I’ve seen a few on the road...

Christmas Eve we all went to my mother’s to exchange presents - it’s her birthday on Christmas Day!!

57.0 (Indicated 60.1) / 4.4
46.5 (Indicated 49.0) / 4.4

Tank down 0.1 at 54.4 / 547.2 / Range 50 . UG steady at 54.2 . DTE 59

Low Fuel Light @ 539 miles - this tank is lasting quite a while - last filled up on 23rd November :D

Tuesday morning before dawn drove the Jazz to local garage to have some new rear brake disks and pads fitted, cycled back home on the 650b, 3°C, 7 mph headwind S.

Then drove my wife in the Audi to a dental specialist for some root canal treatment (unfortunately the tooth was beyond saving so out it came), 3.5°C, 7 mph crosswind S:

Drove back a different way, lots of rain, slow and hilly country roads. Called in at a garden centre on way back then on to fill up:
