Haven't driven my car much recently - car sharing saves me about 4,000 miles a year.

Yesterday, went to mother's house for a couple of hours then on to drop off youngest's friend, 4UP, 21.5°C, crosswind W10:

53.6 (Indicated 56.4) / 4.4
68.3 (Indicated 72.0) / 13.3
54.3 (Indicated 57.1) / 16.5 - Return, 3UP

Had an hour spare last night so went for a 21.1 mile bike ride @ avg 19.6mph

This morning, my turn for the commute, 2UP, 16.5°C, crosswind S3:

60.4 (Indicated 63.6) / 22.6

Tank up 0.2 at 57.5 (FCD 60.6) / 552.8 / Range 70 . Fuel gauge F____|__««E . UG up 0.1 at 55.3 / DTE 69

Lost sixth pip @ 511 miles

Something wrong. A post prepared after login but then asked to login again and post lost. I'm not going through the routine again but simply state 736 miles on last fillup.

To enlarge on my close to abortive post this morning. I had already logged in and took a few minutes to prepare the post. When I hit “submit” I was asked to log in again and the post was lost - off into electronic thin air. Just now I’m preparing the text offline and will copy and paste.

On 21 July a complete fill of 50.8 litres was made and I hoped for over 700 miles. In fact I managed 736 miles with 23 miles remaining on the range counter and still some fuel showing on the gauge. Maybe I could have managed a few more. Much of the mileage was 4 up with a full load of holiday luggage so I’m quite pleased with the result.

Today’s fill was 53.48 litres including fuel in the filler pipe. But the handbook suggests a 62 litre tank so either, it is wrong or 10 or so litres was sloshing about in the tank. My last Sportage had a 54 litre tank so make of that what you will.

Is another 700+ mile tank possible? Watch this space.

That is indeed a great result TE, especially 4UP :D well done 👍

I struggle to get anywhere near the tank capacity in the wife’s Jazz - it looks empty but it’s not!
In the Audi Inreckon there’s 1/2 gallon more than stated as I ran one tank past 0 on the FCD (with a can of fuel in the boot!) and still didn’t run out and managed to put in 52 litres in the stated 50 litre tank
I’ve had over 600 miles from a tank a few times but nowhere near my record over over 800 in the Honda FR-V (it did have a bigger tank though at 58 litres).

Sorry to hear of your forum posting woes, I prepare most of mine offline in a Notepad and copy and paste. I’ve had issues in other forums and lost posts - frustrating.

Last night, 2UP, 22.5°C, cross/tailwind SW7, no chance of making the motorway so detour #2:
54.8 (Indicated 57.7) / 22.4

This morning, 2UP, 16.5°C, head/crosswind NW4:
59.7 (Indicated 62.8) / 22.9

Tank steady at 57.5 (FCD 60.5) / 598.1 / Range 35 . Fuel gauge F____|___«E . UG up 0.2 at 55.5 / DTE 26

Low fuel light @ 556 miles

Need to fill up....

Last night, 2UP, 24.5°C, crosswind S6, roadworks were complete so back to detour #8, quite a few stop/starts before getting on motorway:

54.8 (Indicated 57.8) / 23.2

Running a bit late so put in 6 litres from a petrol can I had in the garage to keep me going as I have a 10p off a litre coupon I need to use. Range back up to 80.

This morning, 2UP, 16.5°C, crosswind S4. Hadn't gone far when car sharer realised he's left his mobile at home so dropped him off at other end of his dead-end road so he could walk back through an alleyway to get it! While I was waiting, did a quick 3-point turn:

62.7 (Indicated 66.0) / 23.4

Tank steady at 57.5 (FCD 60.6) / 644.7 / Range 55 . Fuel gauge F____|___«E . UG up 0.2 at 55.7 / DTE 55

Second low fuel light @ 632 miles

Still need to fill up....

Last night - third commute home of the week - third different way! 2UP, 23.5°C, tailwind W10, detour #2. Dropped car sharer off at other end of his dead-end street and went to fill up and use my 10p / litre voucher:

52.8 (Indicated 57.1) / 19.5 - I've used this tank's over-report of 8.22% for this.

Tank Stats

Miles on tank: 664.2 miles
Litres: 48.02 plus 6 litres from petrol can @ £1.189/litre (after voucher)
Calc. MPG : 55.91 MPG
Calc. Range: 41.8 miles (allowing for extra in tank)
FCD Range: 30
FCD MPG : 60.5 MPG (8.22% over-report) :(
UG MPG : 55.67 MPG (0.42% under-report)
No. of trips: 37
Average trip length: 18.0
Average speed 30mph
Driving time on tank: 22hrs 14mins
Days since last fill: 34
Commuting: 46.5%
Ave. Temperature: 21.1°C - Hottest ever again!
Ave. no. of people in car: 3.08
Pmpg for the tank: 172.0

Disappointed with the larger than normal over-report. I may have squeezed some extra in to make the most of the money off voucher ;) !

Petrol station to home:
50.1 / 1.9

Quick change and then out for birthday meal with OH, 23°C, tailwind W10:

70.3 (Indicated 74.0) / 10.7
56.4 (Indicated 59.4) / 10.3 - coming back, 21°C, headwind W11

New tank at 61.0 (FCD 64.2) / 45.5 / Range 600 . Fuel gauge F««««|««««E . UG at 57.1 / DTE 597
