After evening meal went to supermarket then filled up - I could have stretched it another day but I wouldn't have made 600 miles anyway.

Didn't think it could get worse going home but last night was very slow - bad traffic everywhere, ended up on detour #2 followed by the A57 detour through Swallownest I haven't been on in years to avoid another queue! 10.5°C, tail/crosswind WSW6:
45.3 (Indicated 47.8) / 20.2

The A57 should be faster.....

This morning, 2UP, no detours, much better - nice to see over 60 on the FCD again, mild 10.5°C, head/crosswind SW9:
58.2 (Indicated 61.4) / 22.5

Tank down 0.2 at 51.5 (indicated 54.2) / 114.8 / Range 520 . Fuel gauge F««««|««««E . UG down 0.5 at 53.7 / DTE 489

Detour #8 last night - very bad crawling traffic in places :( - took 30 minutes to go first 7 miles, mild 12°C, head/tailwind SW9:
48.8 (indicated 51.5) / 23.2 - stop/start system started working after 2 miles and saved it from being even worse...

Tank down 0.6 at 50.9 (indicated 53.6) / 138.0 / Range 490 . Fuel gauge F_«««|««««E . UG down 0.6 at 53.1 / DTE 460

Lost 1st pip @ 131 miles

I shouldn't need to drive the commute again this year - car sharer owes me a day and its his turn next week. We finish for Christmas break on 14th. :D

Fill up this morning. I could have managed a few more miles to pass the 60 mpg threshold but since I had a 10p per litre discount voucher I used a nearby Morrisons where the CEO was shopping. Actual mpg 59.4 compared with 60.9 showing on the car computer. If I had delayed for a few miles they would have been in agreement Once again calculated and actual very close together. My next question, if anyone can answer it is, how does the car computer calculate mpg? What inputs are used?
Kia Ceed 1.6 crdi isg Retired undefeated on 25,720 miles and 62.91 mpg overall

Now driving my second Sportage.

Warning. May contain a nut.

Hi TE, I believe it’s a calculation not an actual measurement using all the various sensors on your car, engine speed, throttle position, manifold pressure, fuel flow rate, etc.
Most tests find the stated mpg to be higher than actual when tested properly.

Friday afternoon went to in-laws and walked into town for a few errands, 9°C, crosswind W14:
53.8 (Indicated 56.7) / 3.4

Coming back wasn't great - rush hour, very busy and roads not conducive to great MPG - worked it hard - lots of short engine off coasts, 7°C, crosswind W15:
46.1 (Indicated 48.6) / 3.6

Tank down 0.2 at 50.7 (indicated 53.4) / 145.0 / Range 475 . Fuel gauge F_«««|««««E . UG up 0.3 at 53.4 / DTE 456

Didn't drive my car again this weekend, 3 bike rides (12.3, 15.2 & 34.6 miles) and a short trip to supermarket in daughter's Fiat 500 - filled it up - she managed:
58.1 mpg over 349 miles

Went to Belton House with OH, 4.5°C, head/crosswind SW9:
61.9 (Indicated 65.2) / 41.2

After a tour of the house and a 3 mile walk round the grounds went across the road to a garden centre for lunch:
28.1 (Indicated 29.6) / 0.5

Coming back, great run 10.5°C, tail/crosswind SW9:
64.0 (Indicated 67.5) / 41.3

Tank up 3.6 at 54.3 (indicated 57.2) / 228.0 / Range 415 . Fuel gauge F__««|««««E . UG up 0.3 at 53.7 / DTE 376

The UltraGauge doesn't detect 2 cylinder mode in the Audi so didn't affect overall mpg as much as the on-board computer but usually works out more accurate due to calibration factor.

Happy New Year everyone :D

20/12 went to mother's, 2UP, 5.5°C:
62.7 (indicated 63.7) / 4.4
49.8 (indicated 50.5) / 4.3

Sunday went to eldest's house 4UP - hit a massive queue on the A1 - a quick consultation with Google traffic showed it was worth a detour up the M18, 12.5°C:
60.4 (indicated 61.3) / 26.2

From there we carried on to a garden centre, very hilly, 12°C:
52.4 (indicated 53.2) / 5.0

To a BP garage to make use of £10 off with AMEX and BPme app, 10.5°C:
56.4 (indicated 57.3) / 11.8

I'd taken a petrol can with me as I knew I wouldn't get £30 worth in my tank to get the offer!

Going home last night, 2UP, still quiet roads as schools not back until Monday, amazingly made it to motorway, 5°C, cross/tailwind NW2:
54.5 (Indicated 57.4) / 22.4 - better than a normal Wednesday and a lot quicker at under 45 minutes including car-sharer drop-off.

To work this morning, 2UP, another reasonable run for a cold winter's morning - just a few more full stops than yesterday, 3.5°C, cross/headwind NW2:
56.3 (Indicated 59.3) / 22.5

Tank down 2.6 at 56.9 (indicated 59.9) / 72.7 / Range 575 . Fuel gauge F««««|««««E . UG down 4.0 at 58.1 / DTE 581
