NEW HIGH!!!

NEW HIGHEST MPG!!! Check the signature!! I finally cracked the 50+ barrier!

50.90mpg!!

The only irritating fly in the ointment, is that if it were not for that mystery anomaly (see my "Stumped" post), my fill up last week would have been higher than this one.

I'm still super psyched though.
8-)

I do think though because of how close the gearbox is, that I've almost reached the limit of possible MPG in the car. I reckon 55mpg is about the absolute most that could be expected of it. I estimate I would not get more - probably less in fact - on a run at or just below motorway speeds.
Cheers.
Ian.

Well done Ian :D . It's a great feeling when you hit a target.
If you can do nearly 51mpg after the cold weather we have just had, surely you can do better as it warms up......
Go for 52mpg next!
Honda FR-V 2.2 i-CDTi
Summer Figure: 53.0mpg from 44 (+20%) Winter Figure: 48.3 mpg (+10%)
Highest 63.25 (once!) +44%

We'll see what milder weather brings...and if I can resist the right foot urge. 52 would be awesome. The lighter mornings and nights will help because when you turn off the engine (not sure if anyone else's car does this) but the headlights go down to parking lights...so I don't turn off at standstill in the dark because I get quite self-concious about that.

Parkers list your MPG as 42 so I say over 50 should be possible.
Cheers.

Funny isn't it - Parkers lists the 1.2 Brava as only 40 mpg combined, and the Clio as 42, but I always consistently got better mileage out of the Brava, 46mpg was easy and 50 not unheard of...

Duplicate post except I answered you directly in the second one, but it wouldn't let me delete the first!

Very strange, considering the Brava is a class size above and 1.2 is a mighty small engine for a car that size.

Actually looking at Parkers, the Brava may be bigger but only weighs 60kg more than the Clio. Given I weigh around 110kg, and the Brava had a light weight space saver tyre, I would guess the Bravas small engine gave it the advantage.

New, new high!

51.62MPG!!!
That's a 33.39% increase. That was on V-Power, fully going for it (well, maybe just one little break in right foot concentration! ;) ) and as it was only 0.72% increase on the previous best (50.9), I can conclude that V-Power does not improve the economy for my car. It's also quite a disheartening result because I feel that I'm pretty much at the absolute limit of what the car can achieve on a daily commute. Even if I could erase that little lapse, I doubt it would have seen much, if any, over 52.
Cheers.
