Go for it db, I should have scraped back into the 60's for the first time this year when I finally fill up this tank :)
I'd love to join you in the 70's club greenman - I can manage 70+ on some trips like yesterday even with 5 people in the car but the commute's a bit of a killer..... who knows, warmer weather may get us all to our targets!

I'm not in my car today - car sharing and then borrowing a pool car later.

Not driving my car for the commute this week, my car sharer took me into work and then I borrowed a 7 year old 2.0 diesel auto VW Passat estate to go to a meeting and then home. I'm not used to driving auto's but found it really easy to drop into N from D and coast :) . Not as good FE as my car, managed 55.5 over 62.0 miles.

Brought the Auto Passat back to work this morning, 1UP, 3°C, only managed 51.0 / 21.5. Didn't switch off at lights as it was too much of a faff and I didn't do any FAS as I don't know the car or how Automatics respond to it!
When I took the car up yesterday the onboard computer had the average mpg for the last 22000 miles at 39.9 before I reset it so I'm pretty pleased with that :)

Popped out last night and took opportunity to fill up as I was approaching empty.
I must have squeezed an extra 1/2 gallon more than normal - I usually go for second click so it's knocked it down to 57.74 over 672.3 miles but it's still slightly higher than last fill.
I reckon it would have been around 60 without the third squeeze - oh well :)

As I was filling up , one of the ladies behind the counter came out and told people behind me they were shutting pumps off - sold out :o - stupid panic buying, I only had just over a gallon left in my tank :x

That's easily the most I've ever paid for a tank of diesel - I didn't have any 5/10/15p offs so paid full price (which is also 2 to 3p a litre higher than where I work :x ) - £77.75 :o - at least it should last me 4+ weeks.

First trip on new tank back from garage. UG adjusted again!
66.3 / 2.0 / DTE844

End of year stats - I run mine from April to March as I bought car 6 April 2006 :geek:

2011/12 - 7674.2 miles travelled - 607.68 litres - 133.67 gallons - 57.41mpg
I had 15 fillups but 4 of them were short top-ups to calibrate UG, tanks generally last 4 to 5 weeks.

This is over 11% better than last 12 months when I got 51.51mpg (which was also a record).
I never thought I'd be able to improve my FE this much but a combination of higher tyre pressures, the UG and honing my techniques have does wonders - I've had 3 tanks over 60 and looking forward to new records, bring on the 750mile tank please :D

My previous best April figure is a paltry 53.86 - should smash it ;)

Filled up today after "panic buying" or rather ensuring I can travel to my own wedding.
Got a superb 59.7 unfortunately though I'm still chasing the elusive 60mpg.
