Definitely. You are best asking if the store follows the national policy for taking money off coupons even if you haven't bought the product rather than asking if they take coupons which is more likely to give you a negative answer!

Read the first 2 or 3 posts and maybe even print off the policy and take it with you just in case.

Not every Tesco's store will accept them - our local Tesco Express has never taken them but the main store 1/2 mile away has for years but only take 3 internet printed coupons off you along with however many coupons from product packaging, etc. you have.
Not so long back Finish Rinse Aid was on offer for £2.50 and it had a £3 off dishwasher tabs coupon round the neck. No brainer - bought 6 and got 6 x £3 off - they were paying me 50p for each one as I used one of the £3 coupons for my next 6 shops off stuff I actually wanted.

I spoke to a nice lady on the tills at the Market Deeping Tesco she understands their policy as

Redeem as many coupons for things you are buying
Redeem upto 1 coupon for something you are not buying
This can include vouchers for other stores.

Now this wasn't the customer services lady - I'll have a word with her this week. Seems that each branch may have its own guidance or rules.

Only one coupon for something you are not buying is rubbish but if you were only popping in for a sandwich and you got £1 off using a coupon for dog food, etc. it's still a bonus.
It's worth finding out what your stores policy truly is as the sales assistants quite often haven't been trained properly. Customer Services may know the policy but it may be worth speaking to the duty manager and if no joy there speak to the store manager and ask "Do you follow the National Tesco coupon policy?"
Anyway, try it - nothing to lose!

In theory I could pay for all my lunches just using coupons!! That would save me a fair few bob indeed! We normally do all our shopping at Morrisons but maybe that should change.

no problem - I've just hit the £2000 worth used in under 12 months. Things may change because Martin Lewis mentioned it again recently on GMTV I think and the manufacturer's may get a bit uppitty with them

It's all over - Martin Lewis told everyone about it on GMTV so Tesco's stopped it yesterday. The manufacturer's can't let it slip this time so Tesco's have had to take the moral high ground
I'm off to Netto, Aldi, Asda, etc as they are cheaper now there are no coupons for cash.

There are notices all over my local Tesco detailing the "revisions" to their voucher policy. Bastards!

There's still plenty of savings to be made though using coupons.
I've had free Hovis, Milka bars, McCain chips, milk, Pringles, etc. and loads of money off other products I actually buy.

As before there are still plenty of coupons you can print for products you may actually want to buy (and sometimes get free as well and occasionally money towards the rest of your shopping if the item is on offer and the coupon is worth more than the item ). Recently I've had Dairylea triangles, Dove roll on, Milka chocolate, Airwick, milk - all free or better!). Morrisons and Sainsbury's also take internet coupons.

Don't forget Tesco's will take competitor coupons - they are known as conditional spend coupons.
I have used Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Farm Foods, etc. without a problem. So for example, if you have a Sainsbury's coupon for £5 off a £30 spend, you actually need to spend £30 at Tesco, hand over the coupon before you pay and they take the £5 off your bill.
