£15 Back With £50 Spend at Shell With Amex/Foursquare

Postby frv » Fri Jan 25, 2013 8:43 am

Check-in at a Shell petrol station with Foursquare and spend £50 in a single transaction on a synced American Express card and earn a £15 statement credit. You can redeem this deal multiple times with different American Express cards, including supplementary cards, and different Foursquare accounts. You will have to check-in and load the special each time. This deal makes most sense for drivers but you could take advantage by doing a food shop in a Shell mini-market.

The deal will run until 18 April 2013.

I've got 2 cards - only took them out for cashback at TopCashBack - may have to take this one up!

Goof find Gord

I use my cashback credit card for all my purchases and will see about £100 back in March.

I was under the impression that AMEX wasn't always accepted everywhere?

I use my Tesco credit card for everything except supermarket shopping as AMEX has better return there.
I also get triple points on AMEX at supermarket petrol stations.
Loads of small shops take it as well now but you are right it's not as widely taken compared to Visa and M/C.

They had a great deal on November last year - you had to spend a mnimum of £5 in a designated small shop and you got a £5 credit. As I have 2 cards I hit each shop twice and spent as close to £5 (or £10 on 2 cards ;) ) as I could. Over £150 of credit. :D - I got flowers, cider, food, xmas pressies, etc.

Managed to get my £15 back from AMEX filling up OH's Jazz Si yesterday. It wasn't down to empty but Jazz guess guage looks low even when there's 100+ miles left - range anxiety ;)
I took a couple of petrol cans with me and as I thought only managed to squeeze 28.06 litres into the tank out of a possible 42 so there was still 3.07 gallons left or 140 miles range with OH driving (or 200 with me driving  ) so I topped them up to get me over the £50 spend required. With my £15 credit, it worked out at 97.5p/litre - result :D

I will have to do the same on my next fill for the FR-V in 4 to 6 weeks time :)

To get the credit there was a little bit of faffing beforehand - I had to download the foursquare app to my phone, "check in" at Shell, activate the special offer by clicking "load to card" and then fill up. You don't have to be at the location to check in, I did it from home so all I had to do was fill up and the offer kicked in automatically.
