I was toying with the idea of buying a new laptop - just to keep up to date. Then I looked at the prices - ouch.
So I looked at Chromebooks. A top of the range model for half the price of a windows model.
They seem to do everything I want but... are they any good?

Bought a Chromebook. A 14" Acer with 4 Gb ram but only 32 Gb storage. Full HD screen that is very nice. No SD card slot and also no useful photo processing program, only online apps with limited facilities It can only print via wifi and I don't have a wifi printer. No delete key and that's a bit of a nuisance.
But I've still got a Windows machine that can do all of the missing duties and the Chromebook was less than half the price of a new Windows PC. The lack of storage is not a problem, a few cheap 32Gb flash drives will do the job if needed. All in all quite happy with it.
