Forum Mobile Apps...

Postby Karl » Wed Jul 13, 2011 11:16 am

The forum has now been optimised to work with the leading smart phone forum applications. They make reading and posting on the forum much easier on the move using the small screen.

We currently support:
  • Tapatalk
Both of these are available for IOS (Apple) and Android devices.

I am using them both, so if you have any questions or issues please let me know.

I've downloaded Forum Runner Lite and had a quick look. Seems OK, bit easier than Safari but I'll have a go at posting using it sometime...

Tapatalk is much better imo, gives you details of unread posts and topics as well as the moderation options.

I couldn't see a free version - is there one?
I don't like paying for Apps (or anything for that matter! )

It is worth buying, for android it was about 1.50 it is one of 2 apps I have bought, well worth the investment especially if you use a few forums.

Give it a try. I think the refunds for Android apps are quite good compared to apple. If you don't get on with it you can get a refund within a certain time period.

Unless they have changed it, it used to be 24 hours. In ask honest though I'm a tight wad and I hate spending money unnecessarily, but it is a very good and it is updated from time to time, I think I've seen 4 updates in as many months so the devs are keen. I find it a whole heap easier than the web, occasionally I come across a forum that isn't enabled for tapatalk and I cringe, it reminds me how painful mobile browsing can be. By the way thanks again for enabling tapatalk karl! How's the stats these days are members increasing? I have started to get my dad on it, he saw an increase from 53 to 61 in his octavia on a long run just from dropping to 60. He is a hgv driver so knows all the common tricks anyway. I'm going to try to sign him up when I next see him

The stats are always up and down and usually linked to fuel price surges and publicity for hypermiling. I'm really happy with how it's progressing as far as design, content and the community.

It's the forum that I'm especially looking to develop although as other have said before, a large percentage of people don't either feel comfortable or lack the knowledge to post.

I'm in it for the long haul and just trying to find the time to keep it moving forward. I know it's a very specific niche subject so I'll nenevr expect the huge user base as seen on more general forums like money saving expert.

I'm in the process of securing suppliers for a shop and tapping up local main dealers for review / test drives. Would be nice for the site to cover it's own costs.

As per my other posts, if you have any ideas for the site, however small then please let me know. The same stands with news, gord already posts in the news section- it's great as I quite often miss things not included in my daily news feeds and google email alerts.

Keep up the good work Karl. :)
Like you say, I can't see this being taken on by the masses but it will definitely build as more and more people want to cut costs but can't give up driving!
