I think thats the current MPG guage - a little like the ones in BMWs but in digital. Its a very smart dash indeed.

Whats with Autostop? Never really got how it works on the Honda

Just found this forum, good idea for UK. I have a 2003 Citroen C3 1.4Hdi and I am very pleased with the economy of the vehicle and I always drive with fuel consumption in mind. My mpg seemed to vary mostly between the 63-68mpg until 26/6/08 I started using a diesel addittive, I have kept track of my mpg since then. I would say that most of my driving is between urban (53.2mpg manufacturers spec) and extra urban (64.2mpg) with some extra urban occassionally (74.3mpg). Since 26th June my results have been on 7 fill ups: All in mpg - 70.53, 67.71, 70.87, 79.9, 65.61, 67.84, 72.13.
My overall average has been 70.15mpg, I am hoping with this forum maybe I can breach 80mpg

What was the additive Have you done the sums on how much you save to how much you spend on the additive??

The additive is Dipetane which I bought 5litres on ebay for £37. It is quite difficult to work out how much it is lower mpg as I did not record my consumption properly before using it. I did watch my mpg and it was mostly between 62-68mpg. As a very rough calculation each mile costs 8p in diesel. If I get 1 more mile per litre of diesel and the 5l Dipetane treats 1000 litres then I will save £80. If I get half a more mile per litre of diesel I will save £40.I think I get at least this. There is also the added bonus (so the ad says) of 25% lower emissions and 50% less smoke.

I've done some reading into Dipetane and it seems like quite a good idea, however...... I am very sceptical about any "additives" that offer an increase in MPG after trying numerous Redex and additives in my younger days.

It seems that Dipetane causes a cleaner combustion burn and thus increases MPG by upto 15% and reduces emmisions.

So far my reading has uncovered nothing but good things about the product, coca cola might be hooked but I'm not convinced.

Anybody else used it here?

Yes I tried Redex, I think it cleans the carb, but not much else. I have done 4,000 miles with Dipetane and so far I am happy with it - I will keep the thread informed of any further developments.

I would be keen to hear more about your experiences with it both for myself and the site.

One consideration with additives is that you will be expecting a gain in MPG and therefore subconsiously you might be trying harder to improve and thus make up for the additive? Just a quick thought really.

Once I get my own Hypermiling technique sorted and start to get a reliable MPG I will have a look into trying it.

Filled up this morning - up slightly to 55.5mpg. I can't seem to improve much at the moment. I blame Sheffield traffic, lots of stop starts, traffic lights, etc.
Am aiming for 60mpg next.

I've just done 375 miles at around 48mpg from a '95 1.8 laguna. Just being defensive and using (engine on) coast and burn both in town and on motorways.

A few things have struck me so far:

You can coast a lot further than you imagine.
The crest of the hill is always further than you think.
Someone is always about to overtake just when you want to burn down a 2 mile hill - grrrr.
Wind/rolling resistance is the killer for coasting.
I could do with a sign in the rear window inform other drivers that my speed isn't constant - I'm sure not causing too much grief to other drivers is losing me a good few mpg.

I try to coast for 3 times my burn. The best I managed was a 10 second burn with over 2 minutes coast. Wheeeeeeeeee!
As for going up hills, if I can't coast to the top I start appying gentle power so that I still get to the top at my intended final coast speed.
I drive as though every touch of the pedal costs money - well it does!
