Sun at Last!! Out comes the bike again!

Postby Karl » Tue Jul 24, 2012 8:00 am

At last the sun is shining over the UK and I've dug the bike out for some healthy exercise and fuel saving.

The wind was kind to me this morning with only a sniff of gusting on the open flats. Even managed to break my record, doing the whole commute in last than 18 minutes. Fuel saved: 4.45 miles.

Here is the log for anyone thats interested.

I've got jobs after work tomorrow so I might have to bike back and collect my car at lunch time if I'm feeling extra fit.

Nice one Karl! Are you still doing part drive / part cycle or is that the whole way?

I've tried cycling in to work a few times, but it takes so long on the bike (2.5 - 3h each way), and I'm not a quick cyclist...

Yeah - just biking half the way as the first part is mostly single track roads that can be a bit hairy.

Was a bit too hot coming home with the sun in my face. Still, 9 miles saved and quite a lot of cals burned.

With the sun out its got me thinking about digging the bike out if it can actually make it into double figures some time soon.

It's been sat in the shed doing very little over the winter so I'll need a quick service and once over to get it back in tip top condition.

I've started Taekwondo so I'm as fit as I've ever been and lost just over a stone. I'll be looking forward to some nice rides in to help with my stamina and also to save me a few quid in the process.

Excellent Karl. I need to get back on my bike but it's still up the loft while the builders are here. Once they've finished (nearly there) I will rig up a high level storage place in the new garage.

I really miss not having a garage. You can get pulley systems to help keep bulky things like that right out the way.

Really can't wait to get back into the saddle again. Not in this freezing wind though.

You've got me. I'm off to the dentist in the morning so I've got my bike out the loft, put it back together, pumped up the tyres and I'm ready to rumble!

Well, Karl you weren't far off. Went on my bike to pharmacy and dentist this morning. Cold, 2C and a biting headwind on the way back, brrr but I enjoyed it anyway and no fuel used!
