The aerodynamic concept car built by students at Kingdown School won by the Mallory Park Mileage Marathon with an equivalent of 1,980 miles on a single gallon of fuel.

More than 20 schools from the UK competed in this years event including a car piloted by an 11 year old girl.

The Kingdown school’s car managed a whopping 1,000 mpg more than the second placed entry with their 40kg hypermiler.

The Mallory Park Mileage Marathon’s machines sacrifice speed for efficiency with teams opting for super light vehicles with very small capacity engines. The aim is to complete the course using the least fuel possible whilst maintaining a minimum speed of 15mph.
